Filmed by Daniel Trochta outside the Assumption of the Virgin Mary in the Czech town of Vranov nad Dyji this footage purports to show a genuine exorcism.
Trochta was alerted to the strange activities by the sound of a woman screaming.
He walked up to the church and began to record through the key-hole.
The video, which was posted online in February was ignored until the Vatican confirmed that it was genuine last week.
“We were asking God to protect and to liberate the person. We used a Latin prayer asking for a help”, said Fr Marek Dunda.
The exorcist also declined to reveal the identity of the woman, saying details about her condition were private.
