Nicaraguan Minister Arrested After Woman Dies Following Alleged Fiery Exorcism Effort

[From the Editor of St. Michaels Journal: the readers of this blog surely have by now noticed that we seldom if ever post links to news reports of Exorcisms gone horribly wrong, likewise we seldom report stories that appear to be more–shall we say–sensational as it is not our position to cheapen the Rite of Exorcism.  At this juncture, after reading numerous reports over the years of horrible examples of this ancient rite going bad, I feel compelled to remind everyone that regardless of if it is a Catholic Priest or a Protestant minister performing the Exorcism, diligence must be taken to ensure that the victim is not harmed further by the exorcism or those involved.  This is a very serious rite of the church and only those trained by an experienced exorcist should perform the rite and no one else should undertake this potentially dangerous experience.

Witnessing Father Amorth: “The Vatican Exorcist” at Work and the Pathology Otherwise Known as Possession

by WILLIAM FRIEDKIN for Vanity Fair
Sunday morning, May 1 of this year, was Father Amorth’s 91st birthday, but he had no plans to celebrate. He awoke just after dawn, said his usual morning prayers and one to Joseph of Cupertino, a 17th-century saint, and another to the late Father Candido Amantini, his mentor. Clutching a walking aid, he shuffled from his cell-like room to the dining room on the third floor of the Paulist Fathers residence, south of Rome’s historic center.

After his usual breakfast of caffè latte and biscotti, Father Amorth returned to his room, which had Continue reading

Or so she thought. The mirror said otherwise. But no one could convince her. In reality, she was slender and stunning. Extremely in demand. Extremely successful. Extremely well paid. She lived the “good life” so many only dream about – rich, successful and beautiful. But she was bedeviled by an illusion.

She couldn’t see Continue reading

An Exorcist Explains How to Protect Yourself Against Demonic Harassment

PATTI ARMSTRONG 10/20/2016
National Catholic Register

“People think they have to do something extraordinary, but it is actually the very ordinary things that build up graces and offer protection. If a Catholic is praying, going to Mass, and receiving the sacraments, then the devil is already on the run.”
The battle rages on against “the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil” (Ephesians 6:12). The devil’s main activity is tempting us to sin but that rarely rankles us. It’s when things go bump in the night that people are shaken up.

If the devil is making his presence felt, an exorcist is often called Continue reading
